Recently, the Journal of People’s Public Security University of China (Social Sciences Edition), supervised by the Ministry of Public Security and hosted by our university, has been selected as a Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (CSSCI) (2025-2026) source journal. This represents another landmark achievement in our university’s forty-year journal publication history, fully demonstrating the strong endorsement of our university and the publication quality and academic influence of this public security journal from academic community.

The University Party Committee attaches great importance to journal construction, consistently treating it as a crucial platform for enhancing educational quality and effectiveness, strengthening disciplinary development, and leading academic innovation. Anchored to the founding mission of “establishing itself in the public security professional field, building a first-class public security academic research platform, enriching public security academic research, and serving public security operational development,” the university has updated publication concepts, strictly adhered to academic standards, optimized operational mechanisms, and emphasized distinctive development. It vigorously promotes the upgrade and enhancement of four journals—Journal of People’s Public Security University of China (Social Sciences Edition), Journal of Public Security Science, Journal of People’s Public Security University of China (Natural Sciences Edition), and Journal of Public Security Education—focusing on building a first-class journal matrix for national public security higher education and striving to improve the capability to serve the modernization of public security work.

Journal of People’s Public Security University of China (Social Sciences Edition) (bimonthly), first published in 1985, focuses on fundamental theories and applied research in public security disciplines such as criminology, investigation, law, police administration and public order maintenance. It has been selected as a Chinese Core Journal, an AMI Comprehensive Evaluation Extended Journal in Chinese Humanities and Social Sciences, a source journal of CSSCI, and a Key Reprint Source Journal of the Copy Press. The journal has been honored with the titles of “National Top 100 Social Sciences Journal”, “National High-Quality University Social Sciences Journal”, and the “Featured Column of Ministry of Education (Criminology Research Section)”. It was also selected among the first batch of “Young Scholar-Friendly Journals”.

Journal of Public Security Science (bimonthly), launched in 2018, focuses on policing strategy, fundamental theories of police science, national security, and theoretical innovations across various sub-disciplines and interdisciplinary studies within police science. With the mission of constructing a police science discipline system with Chinese characteristics, it has gradually evolved into a theoretical forefront for policing research. The journal has been included in the “AMI New Journal Inventory”, selected among the first batch of “Young Scholar-Friendly Journals”, and continuously listed as a CSSCI Extended Version source journal since 2023.

Journal of People’s Public Security University of China (Natural Sciences Edition) (quarterly), first published in 1995, is the sole academic journal in China's public security system dedicated to police science and technology. It focuses on theoretical research in police technology and practical scientific applications, serving as an important bellwether in specialized fields such as forensic science and smart policing. In 2016, it was honored with the “Outstanding Scientific Journal of Chinese Universities” award.

Journal of Public Security Education (monthly), launched in 1987, is the only education and training-focused journal within China’s public security system. It concentrates on theoretical and practical issues including strengthening police capabilities through science and education, reforms in police education and training, and police force management. Maintaining close connections with primary-level organizations and operational policing, it holds significant influence within practical police departments.
Our university will seize the opportunity of the inclusion of Journal of People’s Public Security University of China (Social Sciences Edition) in the CSSCI source journals to further optimize and integrate publication resources, intensify reform and innovation efforts, and adhere to the correct political direction, academic orientation, and value orientation. Focusing on major theoretical and practical issues related to advancing the modernization and high-quality development of public security work, we will enhance the journal’s academic standing, quality, and practical value by strengthening the consciousness of building independent knowledge systems, the innovation of developing distinctive conceptual frameworks, the applicability of theory in serving public security operations, and the standardization of fostering a healthy academic ecology. We are committed to continuously building a high-level journal matrix that aligns with the modernization of public security work.
