The Capital Social Security Research Base (hereinafter referred to as the Research Base) is one of the first batch of Beijing Philosophy and Social Science Research Bases jointly approved by the Beijing Philosophy and Social Science Planning Office and the Beijing Education Commission in September 2004. The Research Base actively conducts academic research centered on overarching theme of social security, with main research areas encompassing social security, the construction of a safe China, comprehensive management of social security, social security prevention and control, capital security, campus security, urban security, infrastructure security, community security, and etc. It is committed to building a high-end innovative think tank platform for social security, maintaining leading academic standards in the field of national social security research and becoming an influential center for academic exchange and high-quality talent cultivation in social security home and abroad. It is also dedicated to constructing a social security information, data and resource center and providing decision-making consultation and intellectual support for maintaining social security and stability in the capital. The Research Base was consecutively ranked in the "CTTI Top 100 University Think Tanks List" in 2018 and 2022. In 2025, it was awarded the title of "Beijing Model Collective".
