Overview
The School of Marxism at the People's Public Security University of China has evolved through several stages, including the Marxism-Leninism Teaching and Research Group of the North China Public Security Cadre Training Program (1948), the Marxism-Leninism Theory Teaching and Research Department (1984), and the Humanities and Social Sciences Department (2011). The School of Marxism was established in November 2015, becoming the first of its kind among public security universities in China. It bears the crucial responsibilities of teaching, researching, promoting Marxism, and cultivating talents in Marxist theory. In May 2022, the school was selected as a Key Construction School of Marxism in Beijing, providing significant support for ideological and political education as well as theoretical research in public security institutions.
Faculty
The School currently has over 40 faculty members, including 3 National Excellent Teachers in the Public Security System, 2 nominees for the National Influential Ideological and Political Theory Course Teachers in Higher Education, 1 Teaching Expert in Ideological and Political Theory Courses recognized by the Ministry of Education, 1 Teaching Backbone in Ideological and Political Theory Courses recognized by the Ministry of Education, 2 Beijing Higher Education Teaching Masters, 2 Outstanding Moral Education Teachers in Beijing Universities, 1 Young Teaching Master in Beijing, 1 Teaching Expert in Ideological and Political Theory Courses in Beijing, 1 Education System Pioneer in Educating Students in Beijing, 1 Theoretical Mentor for the Young Marxists Training Project of the Communist Youth League Central Committee, and 3 Beijing Excellent Teaching Teams. The School actively implements the “One Teacher, One Policy” project to lay a solid talent foundation for its long-term development by providing tailored training for young teachers and making scientific plan on the cultivation of leading talents.
Teaching and Research
The school comprises 7 teaching and research sections. They are Introduction to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, Fundamentals of Marxism, Theory of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, History, Moral Education, Public Security Culture, and Student Ideological and Political Work. The school also offers a master's program in the secondary discipline of “Public Security Party Building and Ideological and Political Education.”
In recent years, the school has gradually established an integrated “comprehensive ideological and political education” system that unites teaching, learning, training, and combating through intensified study, promotion and in-depth research on the theoretical framework of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, as well as thorough explorations of the fine traditions and exemplary spirit of public security.
The school has secured 36 national and provincial/ministerial-level research projects, published 19 academic monographs and over 200 academic papers. The project “Building a Five-in-One Education Model Centered on Loyalty Education” was awarded the First Prize in the Beijing Higher Education Teaching Achievement Awards.
External Cooperation
The School actively engages in exchanges and cooperation with local public security agencies, specialized units of the Ministry of Public Security, national “Double First-Class” universities, public security institutions, and international organizations under the “Belt and Road” Initiative. It conducts theoretical and practical research on hot and challenging issues in Party building and ideological-political work, providing theoretical guidance and advisory support to enhance the quality development of public security work.
The School studies the current situation and future trends of ideological, linguistic, and cultural exchanges among the “Belt and Road” partner countries, aiming to effectively narrate Chinese police stories, disseminate China's voice, deepen the international community's understanding of China's perspectives, and foster a cultural exchange foundation for international police cooperation.
