The People's Public Security University of China has always adhered to the high degree of consciousness of “Public Security Departments Bear the Paramount Responsibility for National Security,” actively serving the national security strategy, promoting the construction of national security disciplines, and carrying out personnel training in key areas of national security. In order to further implement a holistic approach to national security, the university integrated the faculty of relevant schools, established the School of National Security and Counter-Terrorism in June 2019, which was selected as one of the first batch of national security discipline construction pilot institutions. In June 2020, the School of National Security and Counter-Terrorism was renamed the School of National Security. In December 2021, it was approved as one of the first institutions to offer doctoral programs in National Security Studies as a first-level discipline.
