School of Traffic Management

With a history of over 40 years in offering undergraduate education, the School of Traffic Management is the oldest professional institution among public security colleges and universities nationwide with the longest history, broadest educational scope and most comprehensive academic levels. Its predecessor was the Security Guard Department established by the People’s Police University of China in 1983. In 1988, it was renamed the Department of Traffic Management Engineering. After the People’s University of Police Officers of China was incorporated with the People's Public Security University of China in 1998, this department was renamed the Department of Traffic Management Engineering of the People's Public Security University of China. In 2002, the Traffic Management Teaching and Research Section of the Public Security Department was incorporated into this department. In 2016, it was officially renamed the School of Traffic Management.

The school adheres to the development concept of “taking Party building as the overarching guide, discipline as the leading force, majors as the support, quality as the focus, and reform as the driving force”, and follows the basic principles of “talent development as the foundation, teaching staff as the key, teaching and research as the core, actual combat demands as the guide, management and service as the guarantee, and open development as the path”. The school takes fostering virtue through education as its own responsibility and aims to develop first-class talents. With its adherence to the educational philosophy of “combining engineering and law with engineering as the main focus”, the school consistently keeps in mind the general requirements of “being loyal to the Party, serving the people, being impartial in law enforcement and strict in discipline”, implements the spirit of the important reply letter from President Xi Jinping, shoulders the historical mission of educating people for the Party, developing talents for the country, and forging and grinding swords for the police, committing itself to developing high-quality professional talents for traffic management of public security.

The Traffic Management Engineering program offered by the School of Traffic Management is one of the earliest-established public security technology programs among higher education institutions in China. It was selected as a national-level distinctive program in 2009 and officially became a national-level first-class undergraduate program construction site in 2022.
